Travel Planning - Getting To Chignik Alaska
Our packages include Airfare from either King Salmon or Anchorage, depending on the package options you choose you will make your flight arrangements to fly into either King Salmon or Anchorage, stay overnight and fly out Monday morning on either Grant Airlines (King Salmon) or Lake Clarke Air (Anchorage).
Once your reservation is confirmed you will be contacted by Paige Miller Probert, she will help arrange for your flight from King Salmon or Anchorage and help you with any accommodation recommendations, ubers or taxi etc.
Our goal is to help make your travel as easy as possible. A few months prior to your travel dates you will receive a piece of luggage (attached photo) for you to use on your trip-we have chosen this luggage as a way to help you what and how much to bring-we have found this size works great and it's part of your package.

Typical travel plans consist of the following schedule - however Alaska has a way of testing ones patience when it comes to unplanned weather events and flight schedules sometimes we have to be flexible in arrival and departure dates, we have found that the major airlines understand this and are very flexible when changing or rebooking - we recommend when you buy your airline tickets from your home town to either Anchorage or King Salmon that you buy a ticket that is flexible or changeable without additional fees.
We have two plan routes of travel - this was due to pricing options available from Grant Airlines out of King Salmon. Along with passenger travel Grant also has the contract to deliver the mail & packages to the towns/villages along the Aleutian chain allowing them to have a lower pricing structure than Lake Clark Air based out of Anchorage (Merrill Field).
We recommend you fly into either Anchorage or King Salmon on Saturday or Sunday and your flight down to Chignik Bay would be on Monday morning.
Once your stay is confirmed you will be contacted by Paige to coordinate your connecting flight and help with stay accommodations, if needed.
Typical Trip Schedule

Arrive in Chignik Bay early afternoon unpack and go out for afternoon fishing
Tuesday: Fishing / site seeing
Wednesday: Fishing / site seeing

Travel notes
We have found its easy use Uber or Lyft in Anchorage instead of renting a car, in King Salmon there are local Taxi services. Weights are a big deal when flying and wanting to take fish home, that is one reason we recommend carful packing of your luggage so on your return flight your cost to transport fish home is minimized. Lake Clark air excess weight charge over the 50lb allowed is $ 2.50 lb while Grant air is $.50 lb (historically).
